Lets Talk Lips
Lets talk lips. Let’s cover cruelty-free lipgloss, lipstick and care products. Let’s talk healthy, toxin-free lips. I’ll admit I had a little panic attack when I read somewhere that regular lipstick wearers will invest between 4 and 9 pounds of lipstick in their lifetime. Yikes! Upon further research it seems that it’s a pretty tough thing to accurately measure so I decided not to completely freak out. What I have found is that the number of metals in typical lipstick is concerning. The FDA says that it’s all in acceptable limits but I have to wonder….are they? The FDA is surprisingly lax when it comes to monitoring cosmetic ingredients so I’m suspect. Here are a couple of interesting articles if you’d like to know more.
I figure, why take chances? If you or your teenage girl love lipstick or gloss it might as well be free of anything that could accumulate in the body over time. We exercise and we eat right so we need to take care of our outsides too! Is it possible to find beautiful cruelty-free lipstick, lipstick plumpers, lipgloss plumpers or vitamin-infused lip products? You bet there is, scroll down to see them.
The beauty of Cruelty-Free Lipstick and Cruelty-Free Lip Gloss is not just the obvious (and to me most important) benefit of not harming animals. Indy companies without multi-national parent companies to answer to can formulate as clean as they want. In my list below you’ll find all the lip products from the cruelty-free Indy companies that I support. Please be patient with me as it takes time to get these products compiled (I don’t want to leave any out), but I’m working on it. Check back often as I’ll keep plugging away at it!
I’ve provided a summary of information for each product. Click the More Info / Purchase tab for more detailed information.
Make sure you check the Monthly Special Page to get any discounts or specials the retailers are offering. Some give 10% off just for signing up to their mailing list!
One more thing, unless otherwise noted prices are in $US. Some companies have $CAD listed in CAD shopping.
Afterglow discloses 100% of the ingredients used in their products. Butter London’s focus is Cruelty-Free, not so much on the chemical composition of their products, but they do infuse with Vitamins. This company has one of the most extensive lines of lip products I’ve seen! Please note, the Gluten Free* products come with the disclaimer “may have been produced on equipment that has filled products containing gluten.”
This company has sales ALL the time. They come and go. A sale item here may not be that same price later on. I’ll do my best to keep up to date. Sales and discounts may or may not apply to CAD. Be sure to check the Monthly Specials page.
Butter London has a CAD order page so if you’re living in the great white north like me make sure you click that tab before shopping!
Camomile Beauty is a company founded by women who are on the same mission as I am. Camomile is an online store that offers a large selection of carefully selected cruelty-free beauty brands to enable their customers to shop with a clear conscience. They want to stop the support of companies that carry on cruel experiments on animals in the name of beauty. AMEN to that! There are three companies they market for lip products, Blossom, Cailyn, and Palladio. I’ve given a summary of the products below.
Don’t worry about the lack of reviews; it seems Camomile isn’t big on having posted review stats.
Note! For all you Canadian girls looking for a cruelty-free Canada company, this is it! Prices here are in CAD and free shipping in Canada! These products are a super price point as well.
